Step 3:

Group the 19 polygons, as shown in Fig. 1. In Xara select all the objects by using the Selector Tool (F2) with your mouse pointer, and click on Arrange> Group.

Step 4:

Take one of your circular shapes and center it over the polygon group you created in step 3 (Fig. 2). Now slice/cut the shapes. In Xara you do this by clicking on Arrange> Combine Shapes> Slice (Cut) Shapes (See Fig. 3 for the resulting shape.) Now you have a circular shape containing polygons, but it’s flat and it doesn’t look like a ball.

If you haven’t done so already, now is a good time to remove the lines. This is easy in Xara. Simply click on the object and reset line width to "none."
