Step 5:

Ungroup the circular shape (See Fig. 3) and bevel the central red polygon and the 6 white polygons which surround it. In Xara you click on the Select Tool, and use your mouse to click on the group. Then you click on Arrange> Ungroup. Now, click on the Bevel Tool, and select "Rounded." You have a choice of bevel contours. I selected the round bevel for our soccer ball polygons. I used 50% as the bevel contrast and made the bevel size 4 pixels (see Fig. 4). After you have completed beveling the polygons, you need to group the circular shape of polygons. Now, how do we make this look like a real soccer ball?

Step 6:

We need to add depth to the round shape and make it appear more like a 3 dimensional soccer ball. This is were we use the extra circular shape from Step 1. I gave the extra circular shape a dark blue color (#42517d), but almost any dark blue will do. To do this in Xara select a blue color and click on the color edit tool to darken it. If you would like to use the same color I used, click on the object and then click on the color edit tool, and paste or type the color number in the number field using the HSV Color Model. Before you continue, clone the shape again, because you will be using it again later.
